This is my other favourite Lyatoshynsky symphony Karl. What did you think of it?
"Courage is going from failure to failure without losing enthusiasm" (Churchill).

'The test of a work of art is, in the end, our affection for it, not our ability to explain why it is good' (Stanley Kubrick).

New arrival today - a Todd recommendation in this thread recently:

Byrd, William (1543-1623) - Pavans, Galliards, Variations, & Grounds on 2-CDs w/ Daniel-Ben Pienaar on piano - enjoying as much as another recent acquisition, Kit Armstrong performing Byrd-Bull on piano.  Some reviews attached including Todd's comments for those interested.  Dave :)

Hanson: Symphony #6
Schwarz: Seattle

I've listened to this once or twice, but not for a few years. It's great! I especially liked the 2nd and 3rd movements (of 6), since they contain the most beautiful moments. Hanson seems to be a composer who understands the beauty of simplicity. The final movement is very exciting.

My suits cost less, never mind my shirts. But there are dedicated sellers of LV secondhand stuff, so you might get lucky.

Beethoven: piano trio in D major op.70/1, "Ghost"

That middle movement is pretty extraordinary, I can live with the nickname.
Every single post on the forum is unnecessary. Including the ones that are interesting or useful.

Morning listening on Spotify:

A recording by Diabolus in Musica I wasn't familiar with!

SimonNZ

On the radio: Beethovens Piano Sonata no.3 performed by Dierdre Irons.

Earlier on the radio I heard Bach's Violin Sonatas performed by Johana Martzy, with a gushing commentary by the announcer who had only just now stumbled on her catalogue.

Another run of this:

Though I fully understand the sceptics on Van Asperen's ornamental approach, I find this more engaging and fascinating with each listening. This recording is certainly growing on me.
